Catching Up - Whoops!!

I dropped the ball. BIG time. Whoops. I completely forgot to do Milla's 'Birthday Interview' in Nov last year. Too busy I guess. Then Harris' birthday rolled around a couple of weeks ago and, again, I forgot the 'Birthday Interview'!!

Then last night the kids were talking about some memories they have from when they were littler and it reminded me of these interviews so I grabbed the chance and did both Milla's 11th and Harris' 10th Birthday Interviews then and there..... Not sure how the questions would differ from the ones I would have got if I had remembered to do them on their actual days but - better than nothing!

So without waiting any longer.....

10 is a big milestone and one we let the kids have a special party or celebration for. So a few weeks before his birthday I asked Harris who he would like to invite to a party. He quickly gave me two names - his two best mates - then was struggling to find more names. Se we decided rather than have a party with a large group of mates how about we do something super special with just his two best buddies. We threw around a few ideas until Harris decided on going to iFly Indoor Skydiving!!
None of the boys had ever done it before and and three of them had a BALL and came home buzzing!!

I have now put a calendar reminder in my phone for both birthdays from now on to try and remember to do these interviews on their days.... lets see if that helps!!

Nifty Nerf Ninth!

The 1st of March sneaks up on me EVERY year.... its that shorter month of Feb, and this year, coming back from our holiday and getting back into the swing of school, work and everything in-between that caught me off guard.
But there is no way to avoid it - our baby turned nine!!
Being a school day meant he got to proudly take a bundle of cupcakes to school to share with his class, Nerf themed of course.

But the real fun of Harrison's birthday morning was waking up to a 'new' bedroom. Harris slept in Milla's bedroom the night before his birthday, so he knew something was happening but had no idea what Matt and I were up to.
A bit of a room makeover to include his desk as he needs it more now with home work etc and then the fun part - we installed a Nerf Gun Rack/Wall!!

Safe to say he was VERY impressed when he woke in the morning!!
Thursday afternoons are a busy one in our house so we had birthday cake late in the night after all our after school activities... again a NERF theme :)

But cake is always a winner with Harrison!

Double Digits!! Decade Old Daughter!!

We've hit double digits! Ten years old!! Milla had a lovely birthday... the celebrations are still going really with her end of year dance concert tomorrow afternoon and dinner out tomorrow night but so far she has had a ball.
We had a sweet party day last Saturday at a florist. Everything was her fav colour - yellow and made for the bright happy afternoon just like our girl. She invited special friends from school, and dancing and of course her cousin JoJo to join in the floral fun.

Her birthday was on Wednesday so we all woke a little earlier to be sure we could do the gift giving on mum and dad's bed ritual before Matt had to run off to work ( a little tricky as we were out until late the night before at a school performance night where Milla's was in three performances so was a little tired)
We told Milla in the morning she could get her ears pierced for her birthday so the second I got home from work that afternoon she was in the car and we headed to get them done. It was a little nerve wracking, as she thought it would hurt, but the second it was all done she was SO excited and has not stopped staring at her self in the mirror since!!

This years interview questions had answers that show she is absolutely growing up but is also still our little girl.... not sure how long that will last!

It's Great To BB-8!

Our boy is 8! That would be our youngest no-where near a baby anymore!
Harrison's birthday fell on a school day this year, one of those week days that we usually have to ask the kids more than once or twice to get out of bed with not much of a positive response. But a birthday weekday has the kids up, alert and ready way earlier than usual!
Harris asked me about a year ago if he could have a Star Wars themed birthday with a party at Laser Tag. A request that was fulfilled with a little spin... not just Star Wars themed but a particular Star Wras character - BB-8!! The perfect number for this years birthday don't you think?!?

He took little packs of mini doughnuts iced in orange and white along to school to share with his class (a big hit apparently).

After school was filled with Lego building then a special dinner and trifle birthday dessert!
His party was on Saturday at Code Red Laser with 8 of his mates and cousins. LOTS of fun was had and the 2 hrs felt like it went in 2 minutes! Of course it ended in a BB-8 cake!

One very chuffed little man!!

Sooooooo its pretty obvious I don't blog pretty much at all these days. Life is just too busy and if I get a 5 minute window to sit and stop the last thing I want to do is sit at the computer. That said I do LOVE having these birthday interviews I do with the kids each year 'on file' so I can look back in years to come at the responses as they have grown.
I did interview Milla on her 8th birthday way back in November and have had the piece of paper with all her answers sitting near the computer waiting to type it up........ Christmas rolled around, then a new school/work year started and before I knew it, it was the 1st of March and I was interviewing Harris for his 7th birthday! Whoops.

Harris is now a 6 year old school boy!

Blink and you'll miss a week around here at the moment. Now I have started work 3 days a week time seems to be eaten up super fast! I finally found 5 minutes to come on here to write a blog post about Harris' birthday and realised I hadn't posted about him starting school either!!
On Feb 2nd Harris started school. He was SO ready and had been asking me since Christmas when he starts. He was up early and keen to finish breakfast so he could put on his uniform. I was not coping so well!
I was in our bedroom at one point of the morning when Harris yelled down the hallway, with a giggle "Mum, my school socks reach all the way to my school shorts if I pull them right up". As soon as I heard that I fell apart - my little baby!!!
I pulled myself together to take the must do, first day of school shots. Including the chalk board with what the kids want to be when they grow up.... Harris said on the morning, he would like to be a Scientist!

We all went off together and after a quick sorting of classes and welcome in the school hall, Harris happily wandered off with his teacher with not much of a look back!
Thankfully I was starting my new job on the very same day so I had something else to focus on and stop my blubbering tears!

We are now only 4 weeks away from the first school holidays of the year and Harris is well settled and in a great routine. "This school stuff is easy", he tells us!
He very much enjoyed being able to take cupcakes along to school last Friday to share with his class for his birthday. Army camo cupcakes!!

Harrison's actual birthday was on Sunday so, due to a night out Matt and I had planned, he got to wake up on his birthday at Grandma's house with his cousins and Aunty Julia & Uncle Anton there. Matt and I arrived around lunch time to one very happy little guy who had been building his new lego all morning long!
More presents were ripped open and we headed down to the beach for a swim before coming home for cake!

I then took a chance with him sitting still to ask him the birthday interview questions....
