Santa Photo 2014

Most of you who read this blog already know the 'story' behind this photo but there are a few who don't so I figured I'd pop it up to share as it's just too special!
Lining up for a long time in a noisy, busy shopping centre is no-ones idea of fun but add on a major sensitivity to these things and the idea of a Santa photo is NOT an option!
When I saw that our local shopping centre was hosting 'Sensitive Santa' sessions for kids and families with special needs I rang and booked a spot straight away. Two weeks ago I let Milla wag the morning of school, and I took all three cleansed, groomed and spritzed kids to the shops. We were running 5 mins late - because that's just how it goes for us, but it was a an absolute pleasure and a huge gift to our little family that others might not realise.
There was no stress or panic or meltdowns. In fact, Felicity grabbed Santa's hand, hugged him and when he sat down she plonked her butt right on his knee and hummed to him 'Jingle Bells'.
Sure, she is not looking at the camera but she was more than happy to be there and in no way was she looking for a door or exit as she might usually!
Felicity's last Santa photo was when she was about 2 months old so this is the first time we have been able to have a photo with Santa with all three kids and I found myself getting emotional from it all.

THANK YOU Rouse Hill Town Centre for the gift you are giving many families this Christmas!

P.S. Most of you will be getting a copy of this milestone photo in your Christmas cards when I finally get around to posting them!

Milla is 7... birthday interview!

The countdown has been on since Milla bought home the number 7 helium balloon from Grandma's 70th birthday party a few weeks ago. The balloon was tied to Milla's bed just waiting for the day when she could claim it as her "actual number".
With her birthday falling on a weekend Milla took a bunch of cupcakes to share with her class at school. She asked me to "make them pretty" but also not to tell her what I was making so they would be a surprise. A mermaid it was!

When she came out of school on Friday afternoon she told me she gave the face part of the cake to the school principal!
We then headed straight to the pet shop. Milla had received some money from Great Nanna Joy a few days earlier in her birthday card. So it, along with some money she had been saving in her money box for a while, was spent on her very own pet. A gold fish! The man at the pet shop was very lovely and gave Milla a great deal when he saw how excited she was to be able to buy an animal of her very own. Milla named her fish Ariel...

In true Milla style it was hard to get her to fall asleep on Friday night with such an exciting event happening on Saturday but eventually she crashed out and we were able to sneak a bunch of helium balloons (added to 'the' number 7 she had been keeping) into her room for her to discover when she woke.
6am we heard Milla wake and chatter away to her fish about what presents she might get now her birthday day had finally arrived. As soon as Harris woke it was present time then special birthday breakfast before a girly day with her best friend getting their nails painted! Safe to say Milla was a breeze to put to bed at the end of the day - such a fun, big day!

We did have to pop out at one point so naturally this was the perfect time for him to try out his new Ninja Turtle outfit for the first time... along with his brand new soccer boots!

We had a little Ninja Turtle themed party at home last night to celebrate the big 5 year old. with homemade pizzas and green decorations galore!

And of course a cake!! One number 5 Ninja Turtle cake in fact.
