The 12 Things at Christmas that Suck with ASD!

I was floating the web the other day and typed into Google 'Autism and Christmas' just to see what would pop up and amongst the few things I came across this humorous version of The 12 Days of Christmas song written by a parent of an Autistic child... once you've got the tune in your head sing along and just try not to laugh... I dare you!

The 12 Things at Christmas that Suck with ASD

* The first thing at Christmas that sucks with ASD: He’s pulling down the Christmas tree.
* The second thing at Christmas that sucks with ASD: He’s taking all his clothes off …and he’s pulling down the Christmas tree.
* The third thing at Christmas that sucks with ASD: The photo card disaster…he’s taking all his clothes off; and he’s pulling down the Christmas tree.
* The fourth thing at Christmas that sucks with ASD: The Santa visit meltdown…the photo card disaster, he’s taking all his clothes off, and he’s pulling down the Christmas tree.
* The fifth thing at Christmas that sucks with ASD: 5 HOURS OF SLEEP…the Santa visit meltdown, the photo card disaster, he’s taking all his clothes off, and he’s pulling down the Christmas tree.
* The sixth thing at Christmas that sucks with ASD: GF/CF Baking…5 HOURS OF SLEEP. The Santa visit meltdown, the photo card disaster, he’s taking all his clothes off, and he’s pulling down the Christmas tree.
* The seventh thing at Christmas that sucks with ASD: Can’t go on vacation… GF/CF baking, 5 HOURS OF SLEEP. The Santa visit meltdown, the photo card disaster, he’s taking all his clothes off, and he’s pulling down the Christmas tree.
* The eighth thing at Christmas that sucks with ASD: Age-appropriate presents…can’t go on vacation, GF/CF baking, 5 HOURS OF SLEEP. The Santa visit meltdown, the photo card disaster, he’s taking all his clothes off, and he’s pulling down the Christmas tree.
* The ninth thing at Christmas that sucks with ASD: No one comes to visit…age-appropriate presents, can’t go on vacation, GF/CF baking 5 HOURS OF SLEEP. The Santa visit meltdown, the photo card disaster, he’s taking all his clothes off, and he’s pulling down the Christmas tree.
* The tenth thing at Christmas that sucks with ASD: Two weeks without services…No one comes to visit, age-appropriate presents, can’t go on vacation, GF/CF baking, 5 HOURS OF SLEEP. The Santa visit meltdown, the photo card disaster, he’s taking all his clothes off, and he’s pulling down the Christmas tree.
* The eleventh thing at Christmas that sucks with ASD: The Barney Christmas tape, repeatedly…Two weeks without services, no one comes to visit, age-appropriate presents, can’t go on vacation, GF/CF baking, 5 HOURS OF SLEEP. The Santa visit meltdown, the photo card disaster, he’s taking all his clothes off, and he’s pulling down the Christmas tree.
* The twelfth thing at Christmas that sucks with ASD: He’s lining up the damn nativity…the Barney Christmas tape, repeatedly, two weeks without services, no one comes to visit, age-appropriate presents, can’t go on vacation, GF/CF baking, 5 HOURS OF SLEEP. The Santa visit meltdown, the photo card disaster, he’s taking all his clothes off, and he’s pulling down the freakin Christmas tree!

Sunny Days

What a gorgeous weekend it was... a great excuse to get outside for a little while!!
Felicity was with us on Saturday and after a bit of playroom in the morning we decided to take advantage of the fine weather and Milla being asleep to wash both cars. Of course Fliss jumped at the chance to much around with the water so we put on her togs and let her go nuts... Matt got pretty wet in the process!

Then on Sunday we had a mini Christmas with Wayne at Clovelly beach after dropping Fliss off so Milla was able to get into her swimmers this time.

Photo additions....

We always have the camera handy just incase something needs to be snapped and over the weekend one of those opportunities popped up when Milla was standing in her car seat looking out the boot of the car at Matt.... a great shot.... But.....

....on closer inspection we found a extra 'friend' in the photo.

Christmas is just around the corner!!

With Christmas less than a month away and December (and summer) officially starting today we have put up our Christmas decorations!! Milla is amazed at the Christmas tree and wants to touch it all the time but while I was putting it up she was much more interested in the box it came out of.

We decided to not put any presents out in case Fliss or Milla's little fingers go looking...

Happy Birthday Milla!!!

One year old today!! Hip, Hip, Hooray!

At about 8am this morning Miss Milla was opening her birthday presents (with Fliss's help) - that time last year Matt and I had just arrived at the hospital and were getting comfy for our long day before meeting Milla for the first time at about 8pm that night!

Milla seems to complete understand the whole ripping open presents thing and with Felicity's help all her gifts were opened in seconds - good practice for when the big guy in the red suit visits next month!

We can't believe it's been a year already but what a fun year it has been!!

Busy Bees

Wow - it's has been forever since I have posted on the family blog.... the last one was before we left for the States!!! You all know why.......life is just a bit busy at the moment. Today it was proven when I took a call on my mobile about the fundraiser so Milla and Fliss were left to their own devices for a few minutes... when I hung up the phone I could hear giggling so I grabbed the camera and followed the girly noises to find both girls in the bathroom pulling the toilet paper from the roll and having the time of their life - very cute!

So I guess we are all busy little bees in some way!!

Milla's First Haircut!!

Daddy finally agreed Milla needed a little trim so both her and I had our hair cut today!! Milla was very good - normal curious and wanting to play with the pretty shiny scissors but with a little food distraction it was done in seconds. Sarah, who did the cutting, said she has never cut 2 inches of hair of an 11 month old before and there still be so much left!!
We have kept a little bit of hair and of course I took some photos.

Famous Felicity

In our fundraising frenzy I have come across many, may , many amazing people who are more than willing to help in some way and we have had big and small donations come from everywhere - all over the world!!
Through the web site I sell my flags I have had HEAPS of people donate hand made goods that we plan to do into themed hampers/baskets like mens, women's, kids, home wares etc. - there are lots of generous people out there who we don't even know that are giving in ways they can. One of those is just getting the 'help' plea a little further... Felicity seems to be popping up on blogs all over the world - here are just a few our celebrity girl is on - sobellacreations.blogspot.com, macaroniandglue.blogspot.com, artforautism.blogspot.com,

Go Flissy!!!

Happy Birthday Flissa!!!

What a coincidence that today was the day Matt and I went to the hospital meet bubby through our ultrasound - as we were leaving Matt realized that today 8 years ago he was at a different hospital meeting his first bubby in the flesh for the first time!!!

8 years old - wow, now that time has just disappeared!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS FLISS!!!

I think Felicity will enjoy her day starting by waking up at her mum's house and then ending with a birthday dinner with Grandma at Dad's house.
All week the postman has been delivering cards and packages from great grandparents. So when Felicity gets to our place this afternoon she'll have a mountain of things to unwrap and show off!!
We had a volunteer meeting booked in for this weekend, the last one before Matt and I head to the States, but we decided to change it to a Volunteer birthday party - Yay. The good fun just keeps coming for Flissa!

Oh and just to fill everyone in - the ultra sound went perfect. It showed ten fingers and toes on two arm and legs and everything in the right spot internally - the doctor asked if we wanted to know what sex the baby is and when we said no told us to look away while he checked bubby's bladder and tail bone. I then asked if he now knows what we are having and he said (with a grin) he had a pretty good idea!!! Rude hahahaha. I added some pics - not great they are photos of photos but better than nothing.

Growing Girls

With the warmer weather now here the back yard has become a big part of the day for both girls.... we grab the picnic blanket and shade tent and head outside. Milla plays in and around the tent (mainly eating grass and leaves) and Fliss mucks around the yard popping into the tent every now and then for some shade and a rest.
I snapped a few pics just today of the girls playing in the tent and when I loaded them onto the computer I remembered we had a similar shot from summer last year - look how much they both have grown!!!

The path of Milla...

Now Milla has worked out crawling she is 'exploring' every corner of the house. You can walk from room to room and know exactly where she has been.... 'the path of Milla' we have called it. In the last two days I have taken photos to show you what we mean...

At the book case checking out the videos

The bathroom door where she 'plays' while mummy gets ready

At the bathroom door again - just cause there is stuff to get into

Under the computer desk - cheeky grin!!
